Gang threaten hotel receptionist with screwdriver

Image: Travelodge website. Here.

A receptionist in a Kettering hotel was threatened with a screwdriver by four masked men.

The men, wearing Halloween masks, entered the Travelodge on the westbound A14 in the early hours of Monday, October 13th, and climbed over the hotel counter.

The receptionist was then dragged into a back room, punched and threatened, before being forced to lie on the floor whilst the raiders searched the office.

The thieves stole a small amount of cash from a safe before fleeing.

All four of the men spoke with Asian accents and were around 5ft 5in.

As well as the Halloween masks, they all wore long sleeved t-shirts, jeans and gloves.

Police working on the case are now asking for any witnesses to come forward if anyone saw anything unusual in the vicinity of the Travelodge on that night.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Friction to perform in Kettering

One of the world's biggest drum and bass DJ's is set to perform in Kettering this weekend.

Friction, who has his own show on BBC Radio 1, will be entertaining The Loft this Saturday night.

The news of BBC Radio 1’s drum and bass front-man coming to the town is no surprise to many.

Local promoter Rhys Alford, 18, is known for bringing big name artists to the town, previously attracting grime MC, P Money.

He said: “It's simply amazing to be able to say one of the world’s best drum and bass DJ's is coming to our small town.

“It just goes to show what great support we have from the ravers, artists and clubs. We couldn't run nights on such a scale without them.

“I just want to thank everyone for being involved and continuing a true positive movement in Kettering.

You can catch the multi-award winning DJ performing for just a mere £5 on the door.

Subway set to re-open their fourth store in Kettering

Subway are set to re-open their fourth store in Kettering later this month.

Kettering’s fourth Subway store is set to re-open on November 19th on the Telford Way Industrial Estate after being closed for refurbishment.

Free cookies and coffee has been promised to visitors to the store on Linnell Way on the opening day after 9am.

A spokesperson for the store said: "We are doing an opening on the 19th of November and will be giving free coffee and cookies.

"We will also have other promotional offers during the end of the year."

The popular sandwich store is the world’s largest restaurant chain, overtaking McDonalds in 2011.

Subway has more than 1,800 stores in the U.K, dwarfing McDonalds with their 1,200*.

Kaine Clinton, 19, from Kettering, said: "Another Subway? I like Subway but i'm not sure Kettering needs four of them.

"Perhaps the council should do something to attract a range of stores to the town rather than the same old."
