£70,000 Improvements at the Kettering Athletics Track

Work is taking place at the Kettering Athletics Track to get it ready for the upcoming 2014 season.

Building works are spawning up all over the track, with the relocation of the throwing cage and shot put area being the primary objectives.

The new £70,000 areas will be accessible for disabled athletes too, stepping up the facilities to compete on a national level.

Although athletes may still train on the track, the modifications have mixed opinions in the community.

Teenage athlete Jake McAllister, who regularly trains on the track, said "I am able to access the area but there are planks of wood and fences on the track, so I am restricted a little."

However he did point out that it would be 'good to see some improvements'.

This is one of the latest constructions in the town and once completed, it could bolster the town's reputation and help to improve the community with the maintenance of the sports facilities.
