Kettering was praised in the Houses of Parliament last week (Thursday 22nd May), due to a project set-up by Tresham College.

Young people and employers who signed up to the 'Experience Kettering' project, were congratulated by Phillip Hollobone MP for Kettering at a presentation held at the Houses of Parliament.

Aimed at increasing the job prospects for young people not in employment, education or training, the project was a success, allowing 30 young people to get the work experience they needed.

Sharnie Cox, who was offered full time employment with Langham Industrial Controls as a direct result of the project, said on the College's website, “Before I started with Langham I was constantly looking for a job. From day one, I was welcomed and the proud owner of some pink steel toed boots and at the end of the experience I was pleased to be offered full time employment.”

The 'most successful' college in the East Midlands, according to the Skills Funding 2012/13 Education and Training National Success Rate Tables has more plans in place to increase the job prospects of young people in the area.
